For advanced players. If you’re not sure, stay with standard tuning.

• Standard tuning G C E AThis is how everyone learns, and all chord shapes from books and classes fit.
• Low G G C E AA separate, thicker G string an octave lower: a fuller, deeper sound. The chord shapes stay exactly the same.
• D tuning A D F# BAll strings tuned a whole step higher and tighter (A D F# B): a bright sound like old ukuleles – better retune with an adult. Same finger shape, different chord name.
