Week 9 of 24
Goal: You connect C, F and G7 and can accompany lots of children’s songs with them.
Review
C – G7 – C – G7: does your G7 sound clean yet?
Step by step
- With C, F and G7 you can play loads of songs. They belong together like a little family: C is home, F and G7 are trips away.
- Practise the circle C – F – G7 – C. Each chord gets four strums.
- From F to G7: your index finger stays on the E string at fret 1! Only the other fingers move.
- In the chord game with “C · F · G7” the microphone counts your changes. Clean is better than fast.
Time to make music: your piece
“Alle meine Entchen” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” with C, F and G7. Sing along if you like.
Homework for next time
Five days, about ten minutes each:
- Circle C – F – G7 – C, four strums each, three times.
- F → G7: keep the index finger down, ten times.
- Accompany all of “Alle meine Entchen”.
- Fun: play “Twinkle” for someone.
Done when …
- you play the circle C – F – G7 – C without stopping
- you accompany a whole song with three chords
If you get stuck
- One change doesn’t work? Practise just that pair (e.g. F → G7) for a minute, then the whole song again.
- You lose track? Whisper the next chord to yourself before it comes.
For teachers: lesson plan
- ≈ 10 min Warm-up: chord call – the teacher shows cards with C, F or G7, the class frets it right away.
- ≈ 15 min Practice: circle C – F – G7 – C together, first with four, then two strums per chord.
- ≈ 20 min Song together: “Alle meine Entchen” – everyone sings and plays. Then “Twinkle” in English.
Differentiation: those who are confident play the piece with down-up or help a partner; those who need more time strum only on beat one of each bar.
