Week 24 of 24
Goal: You put together a little programme and perform it – including a song of your choice.
Review
Play D, E7 and Bb once each. Which one works best already?
Step by step
- Choose three songs: one you know well, one to sing along to and one you especially like. The song list helps.
- You have a favourite song that’s not in the app? Add it as your own song: paste chords and words, done.
- Practise the routine: tune, announce briefly (“I’m going to play …”), play, bow. Just play through small slips – the audience hardly notices.
- Look back: you now know 14 chords, several strumming patterns, picking, blues and melody. Well done!
Time to make music: your piece
Your concert programme, for example “Freut euch des Lebens”, “Auld Lang Syne” and your own song. All with C, G7, F and Am – or whatever you choose.
Homework for next time
Five days, about ten minutes each:
- Choose three songs for your programme.
- Play each song all the way through twice.
- Practise the routine: tune, announce, play, bow.
- Fun: give a living-room concert for family or friends.
Done when …
- you perform three songs in a row
- you just keep going after a slip
If you get stuck
- Stage fright? Breathe in and out deeply three times before playing. Start with the song you know best.
- You speed up when performing? Count in quietly (“one, two, three, four”) and think of the metronome.
For teachers: lesson plan
- ≈ 10 min Warm-up: plan the programme – each child writes down three songs, the class picks two shared songs as well.
- ≈ 15 min Practice: dress rehearsal in small groups – each group plays once for the class, everyone applauds.
- ≈ 20 min Song together: “Auld Lang Syne” as the grand finale – ideally for parents or other classes.
Differentiation: those who are confident play the piece with down-up or help a partner; those who need more time strum only on beat one of each bar.
